Custom 360‑Degree Rotatable Excavator‑Mounted Drill for Highway Slope Stabilization
Customer Challenge
A highway infrastructure contractor faced tough slope‑protection work after roadbed excavation. To prevent landslides and rock collapse, the site required massive quantities of inclined rock‑bolt and cable‑anchor holes for shotcrete support. The steep hillside created narrow, uneven working zones. Their existing crawler drill suffered poor climbing capacity and low drilling efficiency on slopes. Frequent repositioning wasted man‑hours, putting project deadlines at risk and pushing up overall construction expenditure. The contractor urgently sought reliable drilling equipment adapted for high‑angle inclined slope holes.
Our Solution & Technical Communication
During technical consultation, we analysed their core pain point: demanding multi‑angle inclined drilling on steep terrain. Instead of standard drill units, we proposed a custom 360‑degree rotatable excavator‑mounted drill. Mounted directly onto their existing excavator, it leverages the carrier’s powerful crawler climbing performance. The adjustable drilling boom delivers flexible multi‑angle positioning for slope anchor‑cable holes. Reusing their current excavator removes the heavy capital outlay of purchasing dedicated anchoring drill trolleys. Quick installation allows switching between drilling and earth‑moving tasks on‑site.
On‑Site Feedback
Deployed on‑site, the custom 360° rotatable excavator‑mounted drill handled inclined anchor and cable‑bolt holes smoothly across steep slope sections. Fewer machine relocations greatly boosted daily drilling output. Construction progress advanced steadily, and the customer avoided huge investment for special anchoring rigs. Labour and operating costs were effectively reduced. The contractor was highly satisfied with its terrain adaptability and stable field performance for highway slope stabilization projects.
