Granite Quarry LOX Rock Splitting | Solved Near-Farm Blasting Restriction
Overview
This is a real customer case from a Hubei granite quarry owner.
The quarry features 120MPa ultra-hard compact granite. Due to a livestock farm only 200 meters away, traditional explosive blasting was fully prohibited over vibration and shockwave risks.
Trapped between banned blasting and extremely low hydraulic breaker efficiency, the client suffered long-term production stagnation and severe profit losses. He finally contacted us for a feasible mining breakthrough solution.
Challenges
The client faced a tough, no-way-out site dilemma:
– Strict vibration restriction**: No explosive blasting allowed, to avoid disturbing the nearby livestock farm.
– Ultra-hard rock**: 120MPa granite is dense and tough, making breaker breaking extremely difficult.
– Very low efficiency & high cost**: Long-hour breaker operation caused severe hammer wear, high fuel consumption but minimal output.
– Continuous business loss**: The quarry could not run large-scale production for months.

Customized Solution
After fully understanding the client’s troubles and urgent production needs, our team analyzed the granite texture and his on-site drilling conditions.
Matching his 90–110mm drilling rig, we recommended the LOX D90/6 liquid oxygen rock splitting system** for vibration-sensitive hard rock quarrying.
We customized a targeted drilling layout:
90mm borehole, 3m hole spacing, 9m hole depth
Different from explosive detonation, LOX relies on instant liquid oxygen vaporization and static expansion. It breaks rock with **ultra-low vibration and zero shockwave**, fully complying with the farm protection requirements.
There is no best mining solution, only the most suitable one for your site restrictions and rock conditions.
Core Advantages
– Zero blast wave & negligible vibration: Safe for quarries near farms and sensitive facilities.
– Powerful hard rock fracturing: 600MPa pressure efficiently cracks 120MPa dense granite.
– Cost & labor saving: Easy material access, disposable tubes, no tube recovery work.
– Resume stable production: End low-output, loss-making breaker operation.
Field Results
We conducted an on-site trial with 10 LOX D90/6 splitting tubes.
The static expansion force split the hard granite thoroughly with uniform fragmentation. The whole process was stable and quiet, with **no impact on the nearby livestock farm.
Single splitting output reached 1000m³.
The client was very satisfied. For the first time in months, his quarry achieved large-volume rock breaking without safety worries. LOX completely solved his production shutdown problem, greatly improved efficiency and cut long-term equipment loss costs.
Conclusion
Hard granite quarries near sensitive areas commonly fall into a deadlock: explosives are banned, while breakers are inefficient and unprofitable.
The LOX liquid oxygen rock-splitting system is the perfect low-vibration alternative. It adapts to conventional drilling rigs, handles high-hard granite perfectly, and helps quarry owners restart stable, high-efficiency and profitable mining under strict environmental restrictions.
