1. Project Pain Points & Construction Dilemma
Our client undertook hard black limestone excavation work at a quarry construction site in Bijie, Guizhou. This dense black limestone has high compressive hardness and compact internal structure. Local environmental and safety policies prohibit traditional blasting mining due to vibration, noise and flying rock hazards. The client originally used hydraulic breaker hammers for rock breaking, which brought slow construction speed, low daily rock output, high fuel consumption and heavy labor input, resulting in poor profit margins and rising overall construction costs.
2. Customized Hydraulic Splitter Solution, Working Principle & Drilling Parameters
After on-site investigation and professional technical communication, we customized a complete rock splitting configuration: 6 units of 150-type hydraulic splitting rods paired with one diesel hydraulic power station. Geologically, rock has strong compressive resistance but weak tensile resistance. This hydraulic rock splitter uses high-pressure hydraulic oil supplied by the diesel pump to drive internal wedge groups inside splitting rods, producing massive lateral outward thrust to split rock along pre-drilled holes efficiently. The client first ran field tests using 3 splitting rods. Standard drilling layout: 150mm hole diameter, 1.5m hole spacing, 2m row spacing, 1.5m drilling depth, ensuring steady splitting force and consistent cracking effect.

3. Actual Rock Splitting Result & Cost-Efficiency Upgrade
Field test delivered outstanding rock breaking performance. Deep penetrating cracks appeared on massive limestone boulders, with effective splitting depth ranging from 2.5m to 3m. Compared with previous breaker hammer operation, total rock breaking efficiency rises by more than 280%. Reduced equipment running time and labor requirements slash overall construction cost by around 35%. Vibration-free, fly-rock-free operation fully meets regulatory limits, making hydraulic rock splitters an ideal blasting replacement for hard limestone quarry, foundation excavation and mountain development projects.
